ROCKstar of the Month of January: Stephanie Rose

January’s ROCKstar of the Month is Stephanie Rose! Stephanie began her career with RTH as our Director of First Impressions and in a short amount of time, she moved into the Marketing Assistant role, and then into the Marketing Manager role. Her ambitious attitude and can-do personality have taken her far and it’s no wonder why she’s become such an integral part of the team. After all her hard work in this very busy wedding show season, we’re happy to call Stephanie our ROCKstar of the Month!

ROTM_Stephanie_Rose

“My favorite part of being on the RTH team? I will gladly join the bandwagon with my teammates and say that it’s the people. This is truly such a hardworking, hilarious bunch. Never in my life have I had coworkers who make me laugh this hard, push me to always be better, let me be my weird self, teach me when I don’t know what the heck lighting fixture I’m talking about, let me snuggle their office dogs when I’m anxious, and high five me when we succeed together… and that’s just in the events of a single day.”  – Stephanie Rose, ROCKstar of the Month

As Marketing Manager, she primarily works trade shows and non-profit events. But the most memorable event she’s ever worked was a celebration of life with the theme “Love is all there is.” Stephanie says, “It was the most beautiful memorial to a much-beloved woman. Our team had the honor of assisting with audiovisual needs and creating a scrapbook of memories from the night. It was a reminder of just how large a ripple can be created through simple love and kindness.” She feels this impactful event will stay with her forever.

ROTM_Stephanie_Rose

A Few Fun Facts About Stephanie Rose:

  • Favorite song and/or artist? Song: “Moonage Daydream” by David Bowie |  Artist: Real Estate
  • Favorite guilty pleasure song? “Good Vibrations” by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch
  • Favorite movie? Pride and Prejudice
  • Favorite TV show? Veronica Mars
  • Favorite pre-event snack? Usually Uncrustables and/or microwave burritos from home
  • Favorite post-event snack? Probably the classic RTH answer: Taco Bell. As Marketing Manager, I should probably work on a sponsorship deal with them!
  • Where’s the most interesting place you’ve ever traveled to? When I was young, my family and I went to a bioluminescent day in the Carribean. It reminded me of my favorite movie as a child, FernGully. In the movie, a fairy jumps through puddles that light up when touched. It was just like that on our vacation. That day had my sisters and I convinced that magic was real.
  • What gives you energy? Honestly, whenever I’m with my family playing games, throwing darts, and cracking each other up. Laughing with family and friends is what I find most energizing.
  • If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why? I definitely want to be able to fly – I’ve had reoccurring dreams since I was a kid about flying.
  • Favorite pizza topping? I know this is a very Popeye the Sailor answer, but spinach all the way.
  • Do you have any pets? No, I don’t. I wish. I’m very much a dog person and when Steve brings Frank and Blue into the office I just snuggle them and pretend they’re my dogs.

“January is a very busy time for the Marketing Department as on top of their normal responsibilities, they plan and execute the beginning of Wedding Show season. As Stephanie’s second year with these responsibilities, she has taken what she learned and applied it to provide the best possible experience for our clients. Stephanie continues to innovate and doesn’t rubber stamp any responsibilities. She has taken every effort to not only grow professionally but also personally and I’m very proud of her and her achievements so far!” – Amy Van Duyne, Partner & Vice President of Operations

ROTM_Stephanie_Rose

Stephanie credits Rock The House in helping her grow in courage and build connections throughout the Cleveland community. “When I started, I was working at the front desk, assisting with sales, and not quite sure what the future would hold. The leadership team must have seen something I didn’t and opened the door for me to grow into my current role. As someone who is always “my own worst critic,” it has meant the world to have teammates that believe in and support me through new challenges and growing pains.”

When Stephanie is not at RTH leading the Marketing Department, she can be found exercising, working on her web coding skills, and taking care of her 30 house plants. She also enjoys spending time with her friends and family, especially playing board games together.

ROCKstar of the Month of December: Roger Davis Jr.

Congratulations to last month’s ROCKstar of the Month, Roger Davis Jr.! If you haven’t met Roger yet, that’s probably because he’s fairly new to RTH. He has now been a part of the team for 5 months as our Accounting Specialist. In this short amount of time, he has positively affected our team in spirit and efficiency. We are proud to call him December’s ROTM for all his hard work!

ROTM_ROGER_DAVIS_JR

“My favorite part about being on the RTH team is the energy this team has. There’s always something fun happening in the office and the warehouse at any point and it’s contagious. I work in accounting, which is usually pretty drag, but in this industry, everything is fast in all facets. I love that because it’s helped me to be efficient and push the envelope in a short amount of time. Seeing this growth in myself has been really cool.” – Roger Davis Jr., ROCKstar of the Month

As an avid music lover, Roger was attracted to the live events industry for its entertainment and musical elements. From collecting vinyls, to going to concerts, it’s always been a huge part of his life. Being in an environment where that’s such a big part of the everyday is perfect for him.

  • Favorite movie? The Departed
  • Favorite TV show? New Girl
  • Favorite snack? Mini Kit Kats and Talenti gelato
  • Where’s the most interesting place you’ve ever traveled to? Savannah, Georgia because it’s such a historic city. I had no idea before I got there, but it’s known for being very haunted. There’s a lot of spiritual stories surrounding the city and you can do ghost tours and all that. It was such a cool place to be!
  • What gives you energy? Podcasts; I’m a big fan and have been for about 5/6 years. Being able to listen to a good story, no matter the subject, really gives me energy for the day.
  • If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why? The ability to breathe underwater, like Aquaman. Mainly because it would be cool to just have the ability to hang out in the ocean for a long period of time.
  • Favorite pizza topping? Banana peppers
  • Are you a dog or cat person? Cat person; they match my personality very well. They’re low maintenance and chill like me.

“Roger has become a full extension of the Accounting department in ways that have impressed and continue to impress those around him. He’s kept open lines of communication and continues hitting deadlines which has not only created an environment that is efficient, but has also allowed the train to continue moving while his supervisor Steve is spending time with the new addition to their family. And more than anything, he continues to provide efficiencies for us to win the race together! ” – Amy Van Duyne, Partner & Vice President of Operations

ROTM_Roger_Davis_Jr

Though Roger hasn’t worked any events as of yet, he is excited to change that in this new year. “I’m not really hands-on with our events, but hearing the evaluations from all the happy clients in our Monday morning meeting makes me want to be involved as soon as possible. Being able to really make someone’s day in the way we do is just amazing!”

When Roger isn’t at the office, you can almost always find him running. He will likely be training for the next half or full marathon he’s competing in. You can also find him at a record store collecting vinyl, attending a concert, or at a comedy club. He also spends a great deal of time with his daughter and girlfriend because he values family above all else.

One of the coolest events that he’s been a part of with Rock The House was the release party for Machine Gun Kelly’s album at Red Space. There was a small concert, and he was able to meet MGK as well. Josh and his best friend, Joey, worked it together which made it an even more memorable event for him.

When Josh isn’t at RTH keeping our warehouse in tip-top shape, you can find him racing or working on cars. You can also find him around a campfire, joking around with friends, and enjoying adult beverages.

When I heard about the job at RTH I knew it was tailor-made for me. Getting to spread the love of dance to people of all ages is super rewarding and one of the best parts of working here.” – Brandon Pulliam, ROCKstar of the Month

His journey at RTH began with auditions just like all of our entertainers, but his story is a little different than most. “I was actually sick on the day of auditions, but I knew I had to go because this role was perfect for me.” So he went, auditioned, and ended up getting a call that he got the job just a few days before his birthday. It was the perfect birthday present for this aspiring entertainer.

He continuously shows up with a positive attitude and is always willing to lend an extra hand to help out. He is a great asset to every team, and does a fantastic job interacting with guests and clients!” – Kelly Clymer, Entertainment Manager/Lead Entertainer

ROTM_Brandon_Pulliam

Brandon feels that working at Rock The House has helped him gain confidence and improved his communication skills in so many ways. He loves working with all our guests, especially little kids. While entertaining at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo for their event, Boo at the Zoo, he’s had the opportunity to show little kids how fun dancing can be no matter your skill level! It’s a part of the job that fuels him in his chosen career path and makes the hard work worth it.

He really loves the comradery between himself and his fellow ROCKstars as well. “I started last August [2018] and everyone has worked with me to bring me up to speed with dancing. She brings her positive attitude and eagerness to learn to her position as Office Administrator. Her focus is primarily on the ROCKstars that work here. Today though, we’re focusing on Monica and the awesome job she’s done so far with RTH!

“What I find rewarding about working at RTH is getting to know all the team members. I just really like the people here; every time you turn around someone has something funny to say. And I love learning new things! For example, the different programs we use and how RTH functions; I feel more knowledgeable. In the past, at the places I worked, I felt like I stopped learning. Here, I feel like I’ll never stop!” – Monica Peck, ROCKstar of the Month

Monica’s favorite memory so far has been a Monday Morning Meeting in which Matt, our CEO, gave each person lottery tickets. He had everyone scratch them off and gave them this message: “Your attitude affects everything you do. “Monica has been with the company for four months; during that time, she has shown tremendous growth as she continues to learn about RTH and offer solutions to provide our internal clients (ROCKstars) with what they need to be successful. While the tasks take place behind the scenes, it’s the foundation being set that will continue to help us grow and scale as a company.” – Amy Van Duyne, Vice President, Operations

Nick began working at Rock The House about 4 years ago. He had gone to high school with both Sean Tyrrell and Jeremy Guffin, two of our awesome tech ROCKstars. I know when he’s staffed on an event he will go above and beyond to make sure everything is done right. He is someone we can depend on.” – Kristen Milius, Photo Manager

Nick recounts the beginning of his journey with RTH. Around the time he first started, he worked a wedding at Grays Armory in downtown Cleveland. After the event, he handed the bride and groom their scrapbook with all the photos from their photo booth. He says they looked at him and said, “It felt like you belonged here, like we invited you to our wedding.” It’s a special memory he’ll always remember.

ROCKstar of the Month of July: Garrett Beck

July’s ROCKstar of the Month is Garrett Beck! Garrett is one of the newest members of the RTHAV production team, but he’s quickly become a driving force of positivity throughout the warehouse and brings that energy to everyone he works with, and every event he works on.

ROTM_Garrett_Beck

“My favorite part of being on the Rock The House team is the more social atmosphere added to the corporate atmosphere. It’s so much more than speakers in a room; we get to be the hype men for our events. It’s about making sure the guests have a great time and we put on an awesome event for them.” – Garrett Beck, ROCKstar of the Month

Despite only being with RTH for about 6 months, he’s worked many of our more elaborate events and has done an amazing job on all of them. His favorite? A huge “mega-mitzvah” held at the Agora in Cleveland, Ohio. He enjoyed that it brought so many of our team members together for one event. Plus, everyone had a chance to go all out with their performances, costumes, and production elements that night.

  • How do you take your coffee? Straight black
  • If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why? Telekinesis, because it would make load-ins and load-outs much quicker.

“Garrett has not only taken on his role of Video Specialist but has also found time to work as an audio engineer and stepped up to assist with some internal audio training. Additionally, he’s been training new and existing team members, making suggestions for equipment to help our team improve, and offering his knowledge to problem solve. He’s willing to share his wealth of knowledge and skills with everyone and we are so happy to have him as part of our team.” – Tricia Adams, Production Assistant

ROTM_Garrett_Beck

Garrett and his family have had a long history in the event/entertainment industry. His grandfather was in a band and had a recording studio at his home in Texas. His father was a roadie for that very band and always enjoyed music. He made sure to make music and performance a huge part of Garrett’s life as well. For him, it felt like a natural calling to go into the events industry.

Garrett enjoys working with everyone at RTH because they’re all so appreciative of each other and ready to get the job done and get it done right. When he’s not producing incredible events with the team, you can find him at Medieval combat competitions, working with the animals at his in-laws’ farm, or playing video games.

ROCKstar of the Month of June: Anthony Jamison

June’s ROCKstar of the Month is Anthony Jamison! Anthony gives his talents to the Rock The House team in our entertainment division as both a dancer and a DJ. He has worked for the RTH team for about 4 years and always brings energy & passion to his work!

ROTM_Anthony_Jamison

“I feel like the biggest thing I’ve gained from RTH is confidence. I still have my moments, but my level of confidence is way up. With DJing and dancing, I’ve learned to do it more for the love of it instead of just to impress people. Learning from my teammates at Rock The House has really helped me become more confident as a performer.” – Anthony Jamison, ROCKstar of the Month

Anthony says his favorite thing about being on the RTH team is being able to work with and learn from so many different people with so many unique backgrounds. Every time he works, he learns new dance moves from other dancers. He also learns from DJ Flightz and Nick while they’re DJing by watching them and how they read the crowd. He also loves the friendships and bonds he’s gained at Rock The House.

ROTM_Anthony_Jamison

A Few Fun Facts About Anthony Jamison:

  • Favorite guilty pleasure song? “Wannabe” by the Spice Girls
  • Favorite song and/or artist? “Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran (Jack Wins Remix)
  • Favorite movie? Spider-Man Into the Spider-verse
  • Favorite TV show? Bob’s Burgers
  • Favorite pre-event snack? Fruit snacks – I can eat 5 bags before a show.
  • Favorite post-event snack? Oatmeal cream pies
  • Favorite animated character? Kakashi from Naruto
  • Biggest fear? Water
  • Where’s the most interesting place you’ve ever traveled? Florence, Italy
  • How do you take your coffee? I don’t actually drink coffee; I’m a big apple and orange juice drinker. I’ll always have a couple of those in my bag for shows.
  • If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why? Teleportation – I always have something going on last minute that causes me to be slightly on time or slightly late to everything. So, if I could just pop up and be on time that would be better for everyone.

“Anthony has always been an extremely talented individual and the growth he has shown over the last few years is a testament to the hard work and dedication he’s put into his craft to grow not only professionally but personally as well. At events, Anthony simply knows how to entertain. He is always loved by our clients and is one of our most requested dancers. I’m truly proud to have Anthony on our team and always look forward to having him on the events I work. His abilities and skills are a true asset to the overall quality of the entertainment aspect of our events.” – Nick Duvé, General Manager, Entertainment Division

ROTM_Anthony_Jamison

His love for dance is what attracted him to the live events industry. Anthony said he once did a performance for a Latin community group of kids and the next year they were asked back to perform. When he came back, some of the children came up to him and told him that after they saw him, they were inspired. Many said they realized that they had to change some of their behaviors in order to work on their talents and pursue a dream of dance too. Anthony said that’s when he decided to pursue dance as a career and loves that this industry gives him a platform to reach out to people in a positive way.

When he’s not at RTH, Anthony enjoys walking his dog Tequila, watching anime, and playing competitive video games. In his own words, he says he’s generally a bit of a homebody.

ROCKstar of the Month of May: Lauren McMichael

May’s ROCKstar of the Month is Lauren McMichael! Lauren is what we like to call the “brains of the operation.” As Client Coordinator, she works behind the scenes to make sure all our events go smoothly in advance of them being executed. She keeps the office organized and running efficiently to ensure we stay on top of our game at all times!

“What I find rewarding about working at Rock The House is the fact that everything we do affects someone’s life, and often it’s the biggest day of their lives! Between weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, even some of the end-of-life celebrations we do, we are affecting people in a big way. Our company makes a lasting impression on our clients forever, and I get to be a part of that.” – Lauren McMichael, ROCKstar of the Month

She really loves the live events industry because it’s exciting and there’s never a dull moment. “I’ve worked in many industries, like retail, child-care, and a few others, but this one is always so fresh and different. I’m always learning something new.” She’s actually always been surrounded by this exciting environment as her mother plans weddings. Now, as Client Coordinator for RTH, Lauren gets to make a big impact on clients every single day just like her mother does!

Not only does Lauren prep each and every binder and bookbag that goes out for events, during the past couple months Lauren has also assisted in planning the MayZone Saturday fun nights. I am so proud of her growth and can’t wait to see her continue to provide more knowledge and expertise to make our team stronger!” – Amy Van Duyne, Vice President, Operations

Though she’s normally behind her desk at the office, Lauren also works as one of our on-site photo hosts as well, which has allowed her to get more hands-on experience with our events. Lauren’s favorite event so far has been Metro 2017 because it was the first time she was able to get involved with a large event. She learned a lot, and she was able to see a lot of the work she does during the week get executed on site to make the conference run smoothly.

When not at Rock The House, Lauren has two beautiful children that she says she “actually enjoys hanging out with and taking to the park.” When given the chance, she’s always open to napping or getting ice cream as well.
